There's one dirty trick that I've read in academic literature a few years ago that sometimes works, to get you back into persistent normal mood. Take one pill of XTC. ONE. Not two. Or three. This only works if you've never used it before. Apparently, sometimes the first experience will re-balance your brain settings.

Is it me, or is MOBIUS a horrible person?

        "One, two, five!"

        "Three, sir."

        "Three!"

I can't help you find a solution, but if you get one share it. It's been longer than 12 years for me.

Sorry if this sounds stupid, but, what makes you sad? aging? physical defects? lack of sex? not fulfilling your ambitions?

                Sorry to hear that.

You have a pretty good web comic though. That's something.

I'm not sad. Sad is what happens when your favorite football team loses. Depression is a disorder - a specific set of symptoms with a largely unknown cause. Just as it's silly to ask a schizophrenic person what makes them so crazy or a diabetic person what makes their blood sugar so wacky, so too is it silly to ask a depressed person what makes them so sad.

While sadness (and other psychological issues) is one of the symptoms, many of the symptoms of depression are distinctly physical - high blood pressure, fatigue, headaches, digestion issues, insomnia, loss of appetite, impotence. None of those symptoms are considered to be the cause of depression, just as no one wonders whether screaming in pain causes kidney stones or ritually dismembering white women causes psychosis and sociopathy.

Maybe you should just cheer for a team that wins more.

There seem to be a number of Polytubbies struggling with depression. I know it helps to have others to talk to, share with and work through problems together. I wonder if you, Mr Fun, Garth Vader, and anyone else in need of help would be interested in a weekly online chat session where you guys just talk about anything and everything.

                      I think it could help.

This may sound extreme, and can obviously have significant side effects, but electroconvulsive therapy has been shown to be effective in some cases recalcitrant depression.

Of note: this tidbit comes from someone who has not read up on or participated in any sort of significant psychiatric care in nearly eight years, so take it with an appropriately-sized grain of salt.

Good-naturedly harass a Texan. One with a dubious taste in which pro football team to cheer for. One that would quickly fall afoul of moderators, if there were any moderation here anymore. One that makes up words to use as insults. One that will fall for it when you make references to locations near him that you found using google maps.
