So? It's still just training. Students don't get paid for years of what is basically training, why the hell should the marine corps pay for a few months?

As for the injuries, it's not like you would have gotten a job anyway. But I guess $500 for each week spent recovering would be reasonable. What did they give you?

Err, Think of it as "paid on the job training" rather than as students in a classroom. Lot's of companies give quite a bit of on the job training to new staff. The military just gives rather more than most, and with good reason I think (unless you prefer soldiers to have no idea how to use weapons etc etc).

      Paying soldiers for training.

If it were anyone else I'd think you were judging too harshly. But Alby's trolled everyone else and you're paying him due. That said, Alby, good luck in the job hunt. I wish I could give you advice but a. you probably wouldn't take it and b. I'm not really old enough to know how this stuff works.

I'm pretty sure you're in the minority, there.

gribbler is a dumbass. Not paying servicemen for months during training is complete nonsense. Why would you ever do that?

Let's say you're in training and you have a wife and kid. Why the hell would you not get income to support your family?

I guess companies shouldn't pay employees during their training either.

Many don't, only they call it internships.

Then I'm just wondering what you're bringing to the conversation.

Let's say someone has been unemployed for months, has no wife or kids and decides to give the marines another go.

You act like entry-level training is a rose garden.

Can't be too bad if you keep lining up for it and asking for more.
