      These ancestors of the pig called Entelodonts used to roam North America and Eurasia between 37 and 16 million years ago:



      They were 6.9 feet at the shoulder and weighed over 900lbs. They were apex predators in their range.

      Thank god there aren't millions of these guys in Texas today, right?

              Just so the size will sink in, I posted a scale drawing with a human for comparison in the above post.

              Here's a skull of an Entelodont:

                    And no, Entelodonts were long-extinct when mammoths first showed up.
