It's typical American arrogance that thinks it's only the USA that is keeping the world safe. The world has moved well beyond organized, massive militaries and the US still hasn't gotten the memo. While the rest of the world puts government resources into improving the lives of its citizens, the American government pours it into weaponry to kill people on the other side of the world.

    It's quite sad.

I don't remember any planes hitting anything in Canada.
      Wanna talk **** about Canada?
      Wise up.

Does this mean that French Fries have now officially replaced Freedom Fries in the White House canteen?

I for one welcome our new French Amerigimps. It's about time someone else took the job.

Australia is our most faithful ally post-WWII. They even followed us into Vietnam.
          John Brown did nothing wrong.

They might change their minds. That may result in Freedom Fries being renamed "English Fries". They could be served in cups with a picture of Her Maj on the "English Fry" containers. What do you think of that CH?

A while back I would have said your cracked, but not now.
I never thought Govner Bush would have got a second term.
                Ya may be right.

That's just because they're upside-down. If you stand on your head while driving you switch left to right and right to left. Try it sometime and you'll see.

                        Good idea.

I don't think I'll actually try it myself.

                            "no country has closer ties"

                            Does not mean

"no country has ties as close"

You meet a foreign leader, you say nice things about them, their country and how good your relationship is, it's how diplomacy works. Plus the American relationship was massively damaged by Bush, so is in need of attention. This is a good, well judged statement that will possibly help (and definitely not hinder) American interests when dealing with international issues that the French have views on in the future.

                            Smart diplomatic move from Obama.

Typical anti-French xenophobic reaction from our tabloids.

Generally a big fuss about nothing IMO.

If the unemployment rate is still hovering above 9%, he'd better pray Palin is the GOP nominee. That's especially true with the higher than expected 1st time jobless numbers that were released recently.

The US is most closely died to Canada in virtually every aspect. Geographically, economically, culturally, etc.
Debatable, I think it is more closely related to Mexico, especially the important parts like Texas and California.
