A principal thought in my mind when asking the question is how much the spread of possible results effects your choice. Is the mean a better quantifier, or the median, if so, when? e.g. if the median was higher than the mean, would you want a higher amount.

        Say the options were:

        $1
        $7,000
        $8,000
        $9,000
        $10,000

My model is constant price elasticity of marginal utility, along with an expected utility objective function. There is only one free parameter in this model (elasticity) so you should be able to derive from previous answer.

Are these American dollars? I think I'd just jump on the first offer I get and then go and buy rupees or something before I lose everything.

I have no idea what you are on about. But if you want to carry on like the adolescent (or adolescent behaving) idiots who just want to be rude to everyone, then be my guest, but do it with other such people.
