I've often heard stories about the high quality of healthcare and education in Cuba, even if the standard of living in most other respects was poor. It's hard to tell how a country can really develop under socialism when it's subjected to blockades and embargoes.
There was also a thing about research into GM crops and Cuba, but I can't remember what it was ... other than Cuba being quite keen on GM technology.Comment
