Not worthless. Just less productive, more disorderly and prone to crime and corruption. And because the US is a land of elections their general tendency to favour wealth redistribution and socialism because it means taxing Whitey is also relevant for economic development if not the original quote.

In any case this is not simply because of their genetic make up, culture is a big factor. Mexicans probably have a IQ in the high 80's perhaps even very low 90's range under ideal circumstance. The low 90's is good enough to get a developed country... eventually. If Mexico was across the sea, assimilationism was in vogue and if the welfare state was much smaller they really would end up assimilating like Greeks and Italians.

Canada may be growing more secular but the world at large will be more religious in 50 years time than today.

Many Middle Eastern countries are experiencing a drop in fertility similar to the one Europe went through. Iran, Algeria, Tunisia, ect. Islam dosen't really have a strong prohibition on the use of contraception.

However even if all socieities eventually followed this trend the birth rate in places like the Arab peninsula, Afganistan and SubSaharan Africa are so absurdly high that it would take almost a century if they followed the rates of drop of other countries before they would dip below replacement.

Also let me point out that the share of Atheists and Agnostics didn't not rise significantly in Iran or Algeria as their birthrates dropped.

That chart doesn't back up your claim at all.

What's the purpose of the second one?

The first and second chart have significant overlap especially in the most extreme examples. The most religious societeis all have above average fertility on a already large population base, most of them spectacularly so (Egypt seems the lower bound).

Also for people to calibrate their current feeling of what the world is like let me point out that Iran, Mexico and India are average in their assesment of the importance of religion.

Also most of the rapidly developing world is very religious, China being the exception. And if China was to liberalize the population would become less secular than it is today. The West may be growing more secular, but the West is also growing irrelevant.

I like his second chart because it shows the US is more similar to India and poor South American countries than the rest of the developed world.

I think Germany, Austria and Italy count as developed.
