A little too transparent. I recommend you should be a little more subtle with your trolls otherwise you should step back in your time machine and go back to the Victorian era...

For admittance into the military, the physical standards for women are different and lower than the standards for men. If women are ever allowed into combat MOS's, the standards must not be lowered.

But to be honest, the physical standards for enlisted (I said enlisted, don't give me any flak) persons in general is pretty low. For example, the Marine Corps requires men (17-26) to be able to do only 3 pullups, 50 crunches in 2 minutes, and run 3 miles in 28 minutes. Excuse any disrespect but those standards are a joke.

For comparison, Marine Corps officers are required to score at least a first class PFT but have a minimum in each event of 10 pullups, 80 crunches, and run 3 miles in 24 minutes. Unfortunately, that is only a 194 score and 225 is the minimum for a first class so a USMC officer candidate would need to hit well above the minimum on at least one of those three events to compensate.

I was at 277 and I broke so even that wasn't good enough.

Desegregation of the military, coming in 1948, almost two decades before the 1964 Civil Rights Act, was far more controversial -- Jim Crow segregation was in full force, and black veterans were being attacked for having the gall to believe that risking their lives for their country meant they were entitled to the same rights as everyone else.

That's still pathetic. The last time I was in good shape I was doing sets of 10 pullups with 50 lbs hung off a belt. 80 crunches wouldn't have been a problem, I don't think, but in all honesty I always just went to exhaustion without counting. As far as 3 miles in 24 minutes...

Again, KH, read what it says. That would have only been a 194 score so you would need to do significantly better to get first class. Those are just the minimums. For example, a guy who might do 20 pullups and 100 crunches but runs 3 miles in 24:01, he would have failed because he didn't hit those minimums. Someone else who hits all three minimums would have failed because he didn't score a 225 total. Also, unfortunately, you don't get extra credit for going past 20 pullups or 100 crunches.

But again, my point is the standards are relatively low as is and probably too low, especially on the enlisted side. Like I said, enlisted Marines are only expected to do be able to do 3 pullups at a minimum.

Meanwhile, female standards are even lower.

I read what it says, albie. I understood your point that those scores would have been insufficient in combination. My point is that none of them are difficult to exceed greatly.

Have you thought that maybe your physical conditioning wasn't the problem?

The WaPo is a better source. Unfortunately, Greg Sargent is a scumbag that I wouldnt bother to drive around if he was lying in the street. So, I missed that column. I appreciate the effort but rather than you finding another source, I'll make a different argument for you. Perhaps the reason I havent seen the comparison made by a national pundit is because I just dont read or watch many of them - and thats true. I find most political pundits to be ignorant morons that are not worth the effort. I pretty much only read or watch those I've come to respect such as Hitchens, Krauthammer, and a few others.
