Sorry. I should have made that more clear. One of Reagan's best qualities as a leader was his eternal optimism wrt America and americans. IMO, that was just the attitude that the country needed after the natural disaster known as Jimmy Carter. I see a parallel between the america-bashing attitudes of Obama and Carter but I dont see another Reagan 'on the horizon'. I feel conditionally optimistic about the next few thousand years, however the far future will be populated by beings living on the bare essentials with huge populations on the Malthusian limit. But fortunately most beings in that world will feel much better about this than humans ever could.
