Eh..., They are the bad guys. They don't even try to make us look like the bad guys. They use fear and intimidation to recruit and fight this war.

We are in their country. Should they be nice about being occupied?

I'm not saying they should be nice to us (but they should). I'm saying they should be nice to thier own people. They threaten, intimidate and control their own people.

I kind of expect that from a backward tribal society. That's why I wouldn't be occupying them and trying to enforce our values. It's a fool's mission.

'Backward?' They want peace and prosperity just like everyone else. We aren't trying to enforce anything on them, nor do we have to. Don't confuse the terrorists with the peacefull people of afghanistan.

We never should have invaded in the first place, and I really get tired of pols who think its just horrible if AQ moves back into their safe haven in Afghanistan. The lunatics are running the asylum

The real problem is the weakness of the west and its desire to avoid any casualties. They had a choice after 9/11: Declare war or just ignore it. Obvious choice is to declare war. What did we do though? We went in and tried to build a nation out of boy molesting tribes still riding on donkeys. The proper move was to simply go in full force and wipe out anything that even remotely stood in our way, and then pushed right into pakistan. No nation building, no feel good bull**** about how we're spreading our values to the world. Get in, accomplish the objective and kill the enemy, then get out. In the future, any threats should be dealt with proactively on an ongoing basis. Cheaper, faster, more effective.

I wouldn't take it too seriously. It's just bloodlust fantasies from basement dwelling neckbeards who play too much Call of Duty.

There are no basements in Florida, so I can't be a basement dweller. I don't play video games, so I can't play call of duty. Also, I pride myself on my ability to keep emotion out of my decisions and strategies. Therefore, it's not bloodlust. It's a simple statement of reality and the most realistic and effective solution to a problem.

Yes backward. Surely you don't need examples of this?

Of course they want peace ("prosperity" may be another argument depending upon definition, but meh). They would very much like to be left alone, foreigners blowing **** up doesn't fit that bill.

As to enforcing things - The news the last few days has been about the recent NATO meetings on Af- where the main speaking point has been the desire to have the Afghan government take over their own affairs by 2014. Who's running things now?

With the Soviets you had Afghan women wearing western clothes going to college and graduating from careers such as medicine.

How ruthless did the Soviets have to be in order to do that?
