So my father who I haven't seen in a decade and who was never around when I was growing up is suddenly on facebook and friend requested me.

In his photos, he had his house:




Yes, I believe that's a Mercedes... he even has a garden with a gazebo in another picture.

Is this what he was doing with the money that he wasn't using to raise me?!

I don't know how to feel about this.

He probably just parked it infront of someone's house and claimed its his. The old Mercedes reeks of someone who is buying for status and would do something like this.

I think you should stop jumping to conclusions first of all. Then I think you should move on with your life. You obviously still haven't gotten over it. Furthermore, you come on a forum and tell people about it. This is a sign of weakness. I also believe that this is part of why women run away from you. You give off a weak needy feeling. You desire sympathy and you want to be liked. Furthermore, I am guessing you are revealing more than you should be to people. You should never reveal too much about yourself. If I had to offer you some serious advice, it would be to stop posting on this forum. It's doing nothing for you. Then you need to engage in a hardcore rework of your life and where you are going. Everyday should be dedicated to improving yourself and moving forward. Set physical and mental goals and then strive towards them.

why do you think you entitled to a part of your parents success or even lack there of? If the sins of the father are not passed onto the son then why should his achievements be?

He wasn't around when I was a kid. He didn't give money to support us. I guess you think fathers shouldn't support their children (as minors) financially?

well i could lower myself to mudslinging on what i understand must be a sensitive issue, but i think im a bigger man than that

my question was rather more hypothetical - if i can reasonably expect to not be punished for my fathers misdeeds why should i feel an entitlement to share in his success?

What are you saying? I've never come across anyone contending that children are not entitled to their father's support. That's why things like child support exists. Are you seriously saying that fathers are not obligated to take care of their children?

And I was punished for my father. My mother took out the aggressions against my father on me.
