Vast majority I think numbers are like 90%+ and their support for Obama and Black Democratic politicians in general is in the 95%+ range.

They are voting for the party that overall best represents their interests. Wealth transfers from Whites and Asians, and goodies for nonWhites and comfy government jobs basically make the Black middle class possible despite the terrible lack of two income homes.

Nah it's a case of being hoodwinked. I can only speak anecdotally but voting Democrat is automatic for nearly every Black person I know, regardless of what else they believe in or what they value most.

To be fair, whenever it's a white guy vs. a Black guy election, the political racial divide in Philly immediately shows and you get white Democrats voting for the white guy automatically (Rizzocrats, Democrats for Katz, etc.)... in all the recent mayoral elections, whites voted for Rizzo, Blacks for Goode; Whites voted for Katz, Blacks for Street (in two elections); Whites voted for Taubenberger, Blacks for Nutter (okay, in this last case, Taubenberger and his half-assed $20,000 campaign didn't get many votes period*). Ed Rendell was a unique case because it was a white Democrat running for mayor so he got everybody's vote (oddly enough, the only case where it wasn't white Republican vs. Black Democrat in the Philly mayoral race in my lifetime)

*There's an interesting one. The Republican raised $20K while the Democrat raised $2.9 Million. Goes to show you how seriously the Republican party takes its chances to get into the Philly mayor's seat. Really bizarre case because Nutter and Taubenberger were very friendly throughout the campaign with joint appearances and little in the way of policy disagreements. Really strange.

Yeah just checked my facts. Oddly enough, of the 7 mayoral elections in Philly since 1983, 5 pitted a white Republican against a Black Democrat. The other 2 were the Ed Rendell victories, the only time in that period that a white Democrat ran for mayor. Go figure. Maybe there's some truth to Hera's interest in racial division in elections.

Black Democrat vs. white Republican elections:
1983: Wilson Goode vs. John Egan
1987: Wilson Goode vs. Frank Rizzo
1999: John F. Street vs. Sam Katz
2003: John F. Street vs. Sam Katz
2007: Michael Nutter vs. Al Taubenberger

Why would anybody black vote for Goode? He bombed West Philly.
          John Brown did nothing wrong.

I dunno. Could be the same sort of reasoning that gets DC'ers to keep voting for Marion Barry against all logic.

Barry and Goode are solid arguments against the 15th Amendment.

Well to be fair, that election was Wilson Goode versus former 2-term mayor Frank Rizzo who was a polarizing figure (white Philadelphians love him, especially South Philly Italians, and Blacks all say he was racist scum who encouraged police brutality). Rizzo had been a Democrat when he was mayor but when he could not get the Democratic nomination, he switched parties and white Philadelphians followed suit becoming known as Rizzocrats.

My dad is from Philly and sings the praises of Mayor Rizzo at every opportunity. And to be fair, racist old Rizzo never killed 11 black people in a bombing that left 240 people homeless.

Like I said... Most Blacks are straight hoodwinked by the Democrats. They're playing Hispanics for fools as well.

It's amusing how strong attitudes are towards Rizzo along racial lines. It was either love him or hate him and always the deciding factor is race.

They got Rizzo on the walls down in South Philly

and his statue up at the Municipal Services Building:

I can't think of any other mayor that has monuments

I was just up in Philly, and in the Northeast I was in a relatively poor neighborhood (not totally ****ed, but working class). I saw a lot of kids out playing and people walking dogs, and every single one of them was white. It was like a bleach bomb went off and chlorinated the whole place. My dad explained that Philly is one of the most segregated cities around. Even working class whites won't live anywhere near the blacks.

I don't know about all that... maybe in the 1970's. Where were you at? When was this?

I repeat Blacks vote for Democrats because they serve their interests best, Republicans have nothing to offer 95% of US blacks.

The Republicans will need to adopt the Sailer strategy if they wish to win. However they won't simply be the White Party (Republicans should really work to however define Democrats as the "Black party", thus branded ti will let Republicans pick up White Hispanic, Indian and East Asian votes) one of the great unreported shifts in the last election was the fact that Asians only voted Democrat 60% of the time, the shift of 10%+, perhaps one day East Asians when discrimination against them in favor of Hispanics and Blacks becomes too much to bear will shift and vote republican.

That's the stupidest **** I've ever heard. Going all rah rah white people would get them non-Black minority votes? Wow. And Sailer? Quit referencing your VDARE white supremacist commentators.

Halloween, up off Frankford by Holy Family University. Seriously, the neighborhood was whiter than the country clubs are down here in Maryland.
