Maybe.. P2000, P10000, P10000. P10000 is about as much as I could lose right now without negatively impacting my ability to finish projects that I have a year's sweat and blood into, and not have some explaining to do to people who have trusted me. I have a high chance of finishing those projects as is, and my standing with those people is worth more to me than the $250k... why risk it? Because if I lost, it'd be a lot, lot more than what I wagered, and more than I could have won as well.

1: $30
2: $10000
3: $25000
That's after considering it for 5 minutes. In reality, for scenarios 2 and 3 I would think about it for longer and talk it over with my wife. The decision might end up being different.

The trick isn't to break some eggs to make an omelette, it's convincing the eggs to break themselves in order to aspire to omelettehood.

I didn't live with my father who did nothing for me and my mother was an abusive psycho *****. She didn't want me in her place, either."Flutie was better than Kelly, Elway, Esiason and Cunningham." - Ben Kenobi

We actually did scenario 1 in a class in university. The prof took bids my friend and I won with $40 I think. We had a choice of a coin flip or a tack flip. Well not a flip but a shake in a cup and roll onto a table. We took the tack flip and won the $100. Which was apparently the right call, except we picked point down instead of point up.
I'd probably go as high as 20k and 40k for the last two options.
I wouldn't really want to risk more than 40kOnce you start down the dark path, forever will it dominate your destiny, consume you it will, as it did Obi Wan's apprentice.

Having read the thread: I'd rather not play at all, as I dislike the idea of gambling in general. However, if I did play, the amount I wagered in each instance would be determined more by the amount I could stand to lose than by the amount I stood to gain. I.E., I would listen to whatever offer he made, and think, "if I play and lose, would the amount lost really have me hurting?" I'm cautious by nature, to the point that you might call me timid.

Living at home is only an issue if you enjoy it. If you hate it and you're doing all you can to get out, then there's no issue. Also, you're not the only guy with parent troubles, but most people are willing to do whatever is necessary to be successful. Some people have it easier than others, that's life. The weak allow it to cause them to fail. Those who have experienced more pain than others are more likely to succeed if they use it as a tool. The amount of physical and mental pain you have experienced is directly proportional to the superiority you hold over others, assuming it's being used properly. I'm not sure why you would be mad at someone because their situation was better than yours.
