I made a thread about this two years ago, and I'm doing it again. November is NaNoWriMo - National Novel Writing Month - where participants are tasked with excreting 50,000 words organized in an original fashion and dressed up as narrative, plot, and dialogue.
This year I'm doing a first contact story between 22nd century Earth and an alien entity/construct that pops into existence outside the solar system. My characters include an astrophysicist educated in a virtual environment populated by AIs, an exobiologist born in space and searching for life on Europa, and a genetically engineered sexless Chinese clone fomenting a rebellion on Ceres.
Anyone else participating?
