As for being bullied into it by teachers, I can say that there are several teachers I have had that got upset at kids not saying the pledge, and they all eventually got themselves in trouble with higher-ups. It's very easy to complain to the administration about them.

Wow I actually agree with Elok on something. Spreading Democracy doesn't work in muslim countries and never will. Japan and Germany were already advanced westernized nations with a high level of infrastructure and technology and a totally different culture and circumstance. What we're doing now is never going to work. We're better off just taking the gloves off and going all out. If we see someone that needs to be killed, kill him and be done with it. First of all, you're cherry picking specific cities. Second, Dubai is broke. Third, Damascus looks like trash so that was a bad example. If we were to take a ratio of "backwood" areas in the US compared to "backwood" areas in the middle east, I think we all know who would win. Furthermore, our "backwood" areas are like paradise compared to the "backwood" areas of the middle east. Also, infrastructure was just one small point I made. I'm not really surprised you chose to ignore the issue of culture and Islam as a reason that Democracy is not compatible with the middle east. I'll say it again, the only way to preserve the order of the world and human advancement is to contain Islam. Islam will the be the death of man kind's advancement.

And yet the Islamic world was the center of all science and learning for a millennium while the Christian world was in the depths of the dark ages.

Tell me where else is democracy not compatible? Latin America? Spain, Portugal, and Italy? The Balkans? Eastern Europe? None of those areas have had great track records with respect to democracy.

I'm well aware of Islam during the dark ages, but newsflash, it was the dark ages. It was a totally different time period incomparable to now. Furthermore, just because they may have had a more enlightened society than Europe at the time, it doesn't mean their society was necessarily a good thing. If they were so great, why didn't they continue to advance? The answer is Islam. You should just accept that your religion is nothing more than an ape cult. If you don't like it, feel free to go back to the Middle East.
