You are going to hear a disproportionate number of estimates landing at 0-5%, 50% and 99-100%. We mostly think in very unlikely, maybe and certain.

Also looking at the way our brain handles simple things like counting should give you pause.

Using a system of formalized rules that represents abstract generalizations of empirical experience or the implications of arbitrary sets of rules is not a very human thing.
