I doubt it, considering Vancouver leads the nation in gay-bashing and anti-gay hate crimes.

Nah, there is a small, tidbit of truth. It's amazing from some gay Republicans I've talked with, in how they go in circles rationalizing voting for politicians who hate us.

My sig just happens to take the reality to an extreme that hopefully would never actually happen.

MrFun, why do you thınk that homosexual ıssues should be the most ımportant thıng on the mınds of all homosexuals? Gays won't get anywhere untıl they evolve from a fıxatıon on vıctımhood.

Do you realize how prejudıced you sound? Gays must care about gay rıghts fırst! They have no rıght carıng about foreıgn polıcy, taxes, government spendıng, abortıon, or any other ıssue more than gay rıghts!

So how exactly will gays get somewhere by voting for politicians who denounce gays? Aside from getting more gay people into office, of course.

I mean if someone said "jews really shouldn't vote for nazis" would you say "OMG you think jews aren't allowed to care about foreign policy, taxes, and other issues!"

That's retarded. It would not make sense for a gay person to only care about civil rights for gay people.

Maybe they're more concerned about the right to make money than the right to marry.

He's right, that really is exactly how you seem, whether or not it is the case, you'd made the impression that it is far and away your top priority. Which I don't have a problem with personally but it's worth noting.

I hope you aren't being serious.

Republicans don't appreciably help more people make money, they just demonstrably like to rack up more debt. Which future generations need to worry about, I guess.

You can vote for people in favour of gay marriage who also are for lesser government roles in life. The fact that Republicans tend to be authori-fascist to social issues overshadows the fact that they are (in theory, not practice) fiscal conservatives.

Okay, so republicans rack up debt while...democrats rack up orders of magnitude more debt. Besides, with a Democratic president and a Republican congress, nothing gets done, which means no more budget busters!

I could care less whether gays can marry.

Also with their retarded campaign finance reform laws, Democrats are more authoritarian than republicans. They don't believe in the 1st amendment. And Kathleen Sebelius

This is demonstrably false. Just recently, people have provided facts, graphs, and figures which show republicans racking up far, far more debt over the past 50 years.

                            Could or couldn't?

And we've already established your lack of morals.

Yeah, that's the ticket. It's the democrats going around whining about keeping gays out of the military, preventing gays from marrying, trying to abolish abortion, etc. They're not socially authoritarian at all.

The US needs MASSIVE campaign finance reform laws. Your whole system is broken from lobbying all the way up through campaign finance. This isn't being authoritarian, it's giving more people more of a voice instead of corporate interests.

These figures aren't up to date yet, they're from 2007...

But percentage of debt since 1966:

                              Democrat: 21.84%
                              Republican: 78.16%

DIGG THIS In a previous LRC column I touched on the subject of Mythology, arguing that mythology gets discarded when it no longer serves the needs of society. In this essay I want to further that theme by touching on the subject of Republican Fiscal Conservatism, a myth that is a fallacy that needs to be discarded for political dialog and to provide data proving this assertion. One of the main themes of the Republican Party since 1980 has been that Democrats are profligate spenders of tax dollars, irresponsibly incurring immense debt, and that electing Republican Administrations is a simple … Continue reading →
