I'm losing hope. Next thing you know the on topicers will be out posting us as well as out numbering us. This is a bizarre turn of events.

****ty and old. 2.13gz duel core, 4 Mbs DDR2, a 256 Mb ****ty video card... You get the picture. It's all marginal for the hog known as Civ 5 yet some how it manages to run it on Direct X 9 (no animated rulers, etc...) plus having most things set on low. I'll experience on higher settings (aiming for medium) but so far the asinine intro video has put me off from playing with the settings because I don't want to wait 10 minutes every time I relaunch the game.

Just download the Demo from steam and see if you can play it or not. I suspect most systems can. I'll be assembling my new system in the next day or two and then I'll be rocking the X6 and loving life. It's just a matter of finding time when I'm off work and not playing Civ 5 to find faults with it. Honestly, it's kind of boring since they've sucked the life out of it and dumbed it down for a 2 year old.

As long as you're close on the processor and gfx you'll be fine. As for Ram, just spring the $20 for more since Ram costs next to nothing. I bought 1 2 Mb sim card (DDR2) for my computer like a year ago for something like $25. I'm sure you could get it much cheaper now. Even if you're not close on the processor and gfx you can still get a duel core CPU for like $40 and a capable video card which meets the minimums for around $40. That means a total of $100 (60 pounds sterling?) for an upgrade to a Civ 5 capable system? That's dirt cheap.

I'm playing Civ V with the machine I bought for Civ IV. I added some RAM and I only have a GT240 video card. The game runs fine in X9.
                Keep on Civin'

You are all an embarrassment. Get real computers.

I've got old computers collecting dust in my basement faster than the ones most of you use...

I just upgraded my Core 2 Quad 2.6GHz to a Core i7 870 because it was too slow.

I gave away the old Core 2 Quad 2.66GHz and 4GB of RAM to a friend on twitter. I advertised there.

That's what you guys get for not following my tweets.
