Last I heard you were a physics major, so you must be an academic unless you're actually useful and researching something that might change mankind. I'll give you respect for the fact that you're in the sciences at least.
As far as the business I started, it was done with a small business loan of my money. Also, 4$/gallon gasoline and the subsequent economic collapse pretty much killed whatever market was there for my service.

Wow. You're even dumber than I thought you were.
Well done.

I thought we're trying to have a serious discussion? It says serious in the thread title!- Al. B. Sure
You are completely devoid of any wit or useful attacks at this point. It's always amusing to me to watch people of low stature such as yourself continually devolve until there is nothing left.

Try again.

Yeah, I know, I knew it going in. Interestingly I read an article sometime later, I think it was the Wallstreet Journal or something, about how parents should spend 10K on their kids to let them start up their own business rather than college because they'll learn more. It's true, what I learned from starting up that business made getting a marketing degree an absolute joke. Thankfully too my investment in the business was actually very small and I'll be able to pay it off easily once I find a job. My real issue right now is that while the experience of starting up a business is nice on my resume and I have the marketing degree to go with it, it doesn't mean much compared to someone with 5-10 years of experience in the industry. Until the economy completely rights itself and the oversupply of experienced and skilled employees decreases, my job chances are slim and none. So I'm knocking out an IT Security degree real fast and plan to finish in January probably. I'm hoping the combo will open some doors for me.
If you're in the private sector now, what are you doing? Honestly, going into physics was something I wish I would have done if I could do it all over again. Someday I plan to take it up as a hobby.

What oversupply of skilled employees? The recession was far harder on the unskilled and medium-skilled. I had no trouble finding a job while the US was bleeding 700k jobs a month.

I discover the price of everything.

a) "Doing physics as a hobby" is a bad idea. You should try and start another business. That way you'll only have an 80% chance of failing
b) I have no idea why you think that you could have become a physicist...
Saying you discover the price of everything is very vague. As far as starting a new business, owning and running a business is simply a means to an end to accomplish my goals and objectives. I'd rather work for someone else if I can still accomplish my goals and objectives. As for going into physics, there has never been anything I couldn't teach myself and that includes math. While I find physics to be more difficult than most other things, it's still not something I can't teach myself.
My resume is not strong, I got stuck teaching tennis for a number of years so basically my resume is marketing and tennis. Doesn't look so hot. Even with starting my own business it still doesn't compare to someone with 5-10 years of experience. I don't know about where you live, or even what you're specifically doing, but for someone with my resume where I live there aren't a lot of opportunities available. Anyone with a couple of years of experience for a job is going to be chosen over me, that's just reality. We are a paper based society, if it's not on a resume then it doesn't exist. So being able to teach myself anything and everything doesn't mean much.
