You don't think so? That's the whole point of the 10th Amendment.

The point of the 10th isn't to allow States to tell the federal court where to get off, but I do take your point.

Just because I agree with your point, though, doesn't mean that anyone really takes the 10th Amendment seriously, nor does it mean that Texas is likely to get into a serious fight with the federal government by trying to defy a court ruling. All Congress would really have to do is start withholding ALL federal money - ARRA, TARP, highway funds, etc., etc. - and then start slating Texas military bases for the next round of closings. We'd fall in line pretty quick.

How can you not take an amendment seriously, David? It exists, and it's taken very seriously by many.
The fact that it exists SHOULD stop any of the things you're so worried about from happening. The federal government put it in.

Good luck with the fact that an amendment exists that addresses the situation? Well, thanks.

Yep, those signs are damn are damn effective border security are they not? What's the point of deportations if the Obama admin refuses to do anything serious about border enforcement?

You mean like "border patrol, immigration officers and drones"? I think part of that goes into border enforcement.

Show over substance doesn't impress me much gribbler. Especially when we see things like this come out of the Administration.

While the leaked internal DHS memo is making waves on Capitol Hill, it does reflect some of the same enforcement priorities implemented by the adminmistration of George W. Bush.

"You now have two presidents who basically have the same position on comprehensive immigration reform, and that's because you talk to the policy folks, and it's nearly impossible to do this piecemeal," said Nicole Wallace, former White House communications director for President George W. Bush.

And I love how the same people who blame Obama for unemployment getting worse also refuse to give him credit for more illegal immigrants getting deported.

You do realize that the Amendment you are citing refers to powers not listed in the Constution and the power to regulate the border IS listed as a federal power in Article I, right?

                        No, of course you don't.

I was against Bush's planned amnesty deal as well. What's your point?

Pretty much everything that was Bush's fault is now Obama's fault.

Also it's Obama's fault that his name gets redlined by my spellchecker.

He was terribly against it. He would bring it up every chance he got posting as many left-wing op-ed pieces as possible. Eventually, he was banned because he filled the first five pages of the Off Topic with threads about how much he hated Bush's immigration policy.

I'm sorry, but the numbers of deported illegal immigrants is not nearly as significant as his legislation. Don't be retarded.
