OK, the *****ing about this finally reached a high enough level to make me give a **** (barely). Turns out that the imam behind the proposed Ground Zero mosque, while certainly much better than your average Islamist types, is still kind of a dick...
In a 2001 60 Minutes interview, Abdul Rauf condemned the 9/11 attacks as un-Islamic, and he stated that the U.S. was "an accessory to the crime that happened," because, "we have been accessory to a lot of innocent lives dying in the world." In 2010 he declined to state that Hamas was a terrorist organization.

Hey, I have an idea. If Paladino is elected and manages to get the site for the mosque appropriated for a war memorial the muslims who want to build the mosque should approach owners of nearby properties that have been up for sale. The deal will be this: The muslims will propose buying the sites, which will force Paladino to buy them.
