I officially give up: American political discourse is hopeless

[Q=Guynemer;5837951]Between the Journolist debacle, the rise of noted sack of lying, racebaiting **** Andrew Brietbart (or however the **** you spell it), and the continued inverterate ****ting-themselves-****less of the allegedly "liberal" Democratic Party, I have officially given up any hope for the future of American political discourse. We, as a people, are a bunch of marginally-retarded, highly-factionalized, giant pussies.
If any of my fellow Polytubbies can convince me otherwise, please, do your best. I ain't holding my breath.[/Q] Breitbart released the video primarily to illustrate the reaction of the NAACP audience, who murmured their approval that aid was withheld from the white applicant. As for Sherrod, her "it's about the haves and have-nots" in which she generously allows that whites can be have-nots, and her some-of-my-friends-are-white defense, are both lame. She still doesn't get it, and is still as racist as her audience.(\__/) Save a bunny, eat more Smurf!

. . . . cause you're not being serious, right?A lot of Republicans are not racist, but a lot of racists are Republican.

On another note, I have to say, compared to the other news networks on television, CNN certainly did a much better job in getting the facts.
The other thought I have is that after seeing what Sherrod had suffered through, and then the explosion over this issue among others in the media and our society, America continues to pay the price for unresolved race issues.A lot of Republicans are not racist, but a lot of racists are Republican.

I seriously have to ask if you've been living under a rock if you haven't figured this out yet? Did you miss Fox News scrambling and trying to pretend their previous line (which you parroted completely) never happened?Try http://wordforge.net/index.php for discussion and debate.

She directed him to a white lawyer, reasoning, "that his own kind would take care of him." Granted she later had an epiphany about how racist that was but she admits not doing all she could have on his behalf.
No, she said that she *initially* didn't do everything she could have for the farmer, but later *did* get involved to her full ability after she realized the lawyer she directed him to wasn't helping him. She did everything she could at that point and did indeed save their farm, as the farmer fully acknowledges. Still, I don't see how her initial actions constituted "withholding aid," as she said she believed the white lawyer would be able to help the farmer as much as anyone.

Originally posted by Oerdin View PostEr, except no aid was ever withheld and the audience was told in advance that this was a story about how she came to understand she needed to help all poor people without reguard for race and that she needed to get over her past feelings (she was distrustful of whites after he father was lynched and murdered by the KKK in her family's frontyard when she was a child). Also the story in question took place in 1986 which was 23 years before she started working for the government.

I saw on CNN yesterday or couple days ago that showed how Sherrod and the white farming couple of this whole story had become friends.A lot of Republicans are not racist, but a lot of racists are Republican.

Speaking of Glen Beck... any thoughts on his Black Founders' episode?
Here's the links to more... I realize no one is going to sit through 40 minutes of Glen Beck though...
