My uncles used to have beer on the oil rig, proving once again that God favors drunkards. It's amazing to me, because the way work culture is now, it's bone dry (at least in appearance). Well, we sometimes have special events at the end of the day with alcohol, but that hardly counts.
My guess is that things have changed because of the harsher drunk driving laws and stricter workplace liability.
Bingo. At the reinsurance broker I used to work out at, there were Friday keg and pizza parties fairly regularly until someone drank too much and was involved in an accident. Happened way before my time.
