  • of course if you walk up to someone and say how do you pronounce berry they'd probably say it slowly and methodically like beh-ree but in the speed of colloquial conversation, especially when berry is part of a bigger word, the sound of it gets rushed and altered a bit. Although that is also probably true in the shorter word. Like if someone was just saying let me get one of those berries, they'd probably still say 'burry'. I don't know. Haven't really noticed this or given it much thought til now. The sundy/sunday thing though I have noticed and I pronounce my days of the week correctly but it is a Philly standard to say mondy, sundy, tuesdy, etc.

Do I say berry or burry? I bet it's hard to even tell. Listening to the recording, I can't really tell exactly though I don't expect anyone would have any difficulty knowing that I said strawberry.

I didn't have a scooby what that was. Is that widely used? The English slang referred to is very common.
I had never heard flossing. But the other two American ones I know. I had never heard those British ones at all.

I'm queer in far more ways than my voice. Frankly I'm extremely queer, in the strange sense of the word. I'm glad my voice is normal, at least. It provides more shock value when I say bat**** crazy things (which I like doing )

Any thoughts on the song Honkey Tonk Badondadonk song?

Funny that it seeped into country western culure.

Flossin' originates in the mid-90's. Mo Thugs had a song in like 97 or something called Ballers Flossin'. It's actually kind of funny how White America thinks these rap slang words are new but they're damn near 20 years old!

She should've pronoucned it "Torona", that's all she had to do.
She screwed up the California accent too.

I've actually heard that Trace Adkins song before...

But yea, there are a lot of terms that seem new that have been around forever. Like in The Message he says "*** hag" which I thought was far more recent than the early '80s.
