A bit of a digression I know, but this is sceptic revisionism.

In 2002 in "a briefing book for lobbyists and Republican politicians on how to spin a variety of topics to roll back environmental and public health protections while avoiding a public backlash..." - Luntz Memo on the Environment - Luntz advises that, “’Climate change’ is less frightening than ’global warming.’ ... While global warming has catastrophic connotations attached to it, climate change suggests a more controllable and less emotional challenge” (p. 142)

I always understood it to be environmentalists who changed to "climate change" because of the uneven effects of global warming were causing people to say "damn, record snowfall today, global warming is bunk"

You can watch "On the Beach" (2000 version), "THe Day After", "Threads", "When the wind blows" and "Miracle Mile" on Youtube. You can also see "threads" on Google Videos.
Also classics such as "The War Game" (1960s but still relevant), on Youtube.
