Let's say that people had stopped scientists from selling treatments to Charlie directly, and forced them to sell it to him through a hospital. Would that have been better?

What if the hospital itself wasn't able to cover the cost of making Charlie whole when he became stupid again? Did going through the hospital really make a difference?

Perhaps at some point people have to realize that:

a) there is somebody more fit for survival out there
b) there is somebody who is the fittest for survival

This shouldn't lead to hatred or jealousy. Just acceptance of your place in the world.

I think you've got a good point here. Really, it's nobody's fault that lambs are so delicious and lions are so good at hunting them. And it's counterproductive to try to stop hunting from happening.

Well, lions might even feel some paternal responsibility for lambs. But this is really beside the point. I guess the question isn't hatred, but what the lambs should do about it. In the end, anything other than allowing the hunt to go on hurts all lambkind.
