Anger as board member of Germany's central bank cites 'ample statistics'

A controversial board member of Bundesbank has come under fire for claiming immigrants are making Germany ‘dumber in a simple way’.

Thilo Sarrazin told a business group in Frankfurt that people arriving in the country from Turkey, the Middle East and Africa are less educated than those from other nations.

The 65-year-old added: ‘There’s a difference in the reproduction of population groups with varying intelligence.’

In his speech this week, Mr Sarrazin, a former finance minister, cited what he called ‘ample statistics’ for proof.

He said the fact that immigrants tend to have more children than Germans - who have the lowest birthrate in Europe - meant this caused ‘a different propagation of population groups with different intelligence because parents pass their intelligence on to their children’. ...

The guy has a made unPC statments in the past. He hasn't apologized yet.
I hope he doesn't since what he said really can be backed up by ample statistics.

I'm quoting what he is saying.

I'm not saying education=inteligence.

But education and material wealth do correlate with intelligence, the underclass for example that Turkey (which is a pretty ok country) exports *do* have below average IQs.

But I suspect he was using this talk of education as an euphemism for difference between groups. Since African migrants to Europe are actually better off than (the African) average and his statement makes little sense for them unless one agrees that whether due to environmental or genetic reasons their average IQ is lower than the German IQ.

What proof do you have of that?

In your other thread I said that the variation of social status and wealth over the generations is smaller than the variation in intelligence.

I do not admit even such a slight difference exists. If it did, the European aristocracy, going back a 1000 years in some cases, would by 1789, due to natural selection, all have been excellent military strategists and statesmen. I doubt you can argue such a case. Of course there was inbreeding on the highest levels (of kings), but as far as I know this was not the case for lower aristocracy, and the gene pool should have been big enough to produce aristocratic supermen.

A century and a half of taking in the impoverished masses of the world should have made the US technologically backwards and economically poor.

1. The founding stock (as of independance) was arguably better than the average Euro, they still represent the bulk of American ancestry.

7. Regardless of points from 1 to 5. There was no welfare state to speak of until the 20th century and even then it only became a burden worth mentioning after the 60's. Economic theory leads to the obvious conclusion.

I highly doubt this. In Philadelphia, I am certain the majority of people of European descent are of Italian, Irish, Jewish, German, and Eastern European descent, groups which arrived well after Independence. I am certain that you would see similar ethnic breakdowns all across the East Coast.

Heraclitus, to be sincere, I don' know why you would expect Kurds to be dumb, geographically and genetically they are closely related to Jews, Armenians and Syrians, not dumb people.

The problem is probably their primitive islamic culture, not inherent stupidity.
