If it helps, there are probably still plenty of shots of Zinedine Zidane unleashing headbutt justice on YouTube. Sadly, that kind of maneuver is not actually part of gameplay, so yes, soccer sucks.

        1) Talk about stop-motion! People criticize American football but the Uruguay/France match had stoppage after stoppage. The ball went out of bounds every 15 seconds or so. Not to mention all the fouls...

        2) Ties? Really? Both games? Uruguay/France tying up at zero?! Who sets up a tournament where you give incentive to play for ties. To quote Herm Edwards, "You play to win the game"

        3) Falling down. How many times are you going to fall down? It was like banana peels all over the field in Capetown.

        4) Uruguay had only 10 players for a while and France still couldn't score!

        5) The Uruguay/France game just wouldn't end. It went on literally forever.
        Ehrmn, no, it sesn't suck.
With or without religion, you would have good people doing good things and evil people doing evil things. But for good people to do evil things, that takes religion.

The Uruguay France game was appalling. Shame you didn't see the South Africa v Mexico one, which was just brilliant.

Forget Zidane. Try Schumacher's professional foul....

Battiston is particularly remembered for the 1982 FIFA World Cup semi final in Seville, when France faced West Germany. He came off the bench in the second half, and after ten minutes of play, following a through ball by Platini, Battiston was clear through the German defence racing towards goal. The German goalkeeper, Harald Schumacher, raced towards Battiston as the Frenchman took the shot, missing the goal. Schumacher leapt into the air, twisting his body and colliding with Battiston. In the process Schumacher's hip hit the Frenchman's face. Battiston, clattered, fell to the ground unconscious, with damaged vertebrae and teeth knocked out, later slipping into a coma. Emergency medics had to administer oxygen on the pitch.[1] Michel Platini later said that he thought that Battiston was dead, because "he had no pulse and looked pale".

One day Canada will rule the world, and then we'll all be sorry.

Sorry, no, but after watching that video Zidane was still more awesome. You could barely even see what that goalie was doing, while Zidane's video is gorgeously clear.

Tshabalala for South Africa was pretty amazing.

I'm considering painting a patch of paint onto my wall and watching it dry for two hours. It is more exciting from my perspective

My thoughts exactly but then again I'm an uncultured north american.

SK-GRE is rather boring as well. SK does kinda well, but lacks the final determination, Greece otoh is a big disappointment. They probably think of their debt all the time or something.

Well, second half was better, even for Greece, albeit for them only in the last ca. 20 mins. SK wins 2-0.

Skorea plays positive and honest football and easily deserved it. Nobody should mourn Greece's decline considering what they put everbody through in 2004.

The one thing I'd change about soccer, is the offside call. Make it like hockey's blue line, where players can't cross the top of the penalty box until after the ball does.

It seems wrong to penalize the offense because the defense isn't paying attention.
