No, but using government influence to prevent having a family member sent back to a developing country is pretty mild. I don't think people should be comfortable with family members living in poverty.
Mild compared to what? Abuse of power is abuse of power.

    Mike,

I understand, but Obama campaigned on transparency and openness, and an end to politics as usual.

What's the difference between libertarianism and retardation?
A lot of Republicans are not racist, but a lot of racists are Republican.

He doesn't have a problem with his half-brother living in a Nairobi slum. To be more impoverished than that, one would need to live in an African war-zone or be actively starving.

Except it's been known about in the media for a long time, possibly before his election. It's not "sudden discovery by overeager lacky" scenario by any means.

One believes in limited government, and the other tries to make a living reading historical texts.

Honestly, I have absolutely no inclination to get worked up over this; it's one thing to award family members multi-million dollar contracts, it's quite another to keep to keep your poor old auntie in her home.

I don't have a problem with it either. But hey, I support Iran-Contra... so don't take my lack of concern regarding indescretions of power too heavily.

In her taxpayer subsidized home, you mean.

I might not have as big a problem with this, either, if Aunt Zeituni didn't live in public housing, and/or if Obama agreed to personally pay for her.

Except that it would still be an abuse of power, and extremely unfair to anyone not related to Obama.

There are battles that are worth fighting.

This is not one of them.

It is if he unduly influenced the Judicial Branch. In concept, it's worse than anything Nixon ever did.

Preventing the deportation of your aunt to a third world country is worse than spying on political opponents and abusing power in an attempt to cover up?

Abuse of power to violate the separation of powers is certainly worse than spying on political opponents, and about the same as using your power to cover it up.

So, not worse, but the same. Good point
