Depends on where you go. Use a bank ATM and they won't usually charge (though I don't know about the use of an international debit card).

Non-bank ATMs (e.g at stores or bars) usually charge about £1.50.
One day Canada will rule the world, and then we'll all be sorry.

      Thanks.

OK, I completed my bookings. I'm arriving tomorrow, the 23rd and leaving early on the
28th. That's five nights in London for me. Should be enough

If any of you people want to have a beer, PM me or write here. I'll be walking around the
city's attractions during the day and probably drinking beer and watching football at evenings.
Have to run now, I'll have some questions about stuff to see and how to do it in London
      later!

Look out for Sam Smiths pubs for cheap beer (Princess Louise, Citte of Yorke, Cheshire Cheese).

Law Courts (Strand), De Vere: Holborn Bars (High Holborn), Palace of Westminster and St Pancras Station for Victorian neo-gothic. Squares of Bloomsbury always worth a stroll and Islington (Barnsbury and Canonbury) for Georgian squares.

British Museum for various plundered Wonders of the World. St Pauls Cathedral (climb to the top) and Westminster Abbey (though a bit busy this time of year) for key ecclesiastical sights. Camden Town for markets and a taste of the Regents Canal & the zoo & Regents Park.

Thanks. Besides the Science museum, is there any other place where
they keep steam engines and other such technical wonders?

Sure, try the Science Museum, free entry too

Much as I am tempted to recommend Dortmund as a result of the winking tank picture, London would be a better bet.

I'd just like to report that I'm back in Zagreb after spending wonderful
five nights in London. I've been to many other capital cities, but London
is the one I like the most, by far. Nothing I've ever seen compares.
I won't describe the city in detail, it's very well covered. Just want to
recommend it. Also, thanks to Cort Haus for having a beer with me
Too bad about the English team's result... must say I wanted you guys
to win. I watched the game in a pub and I could feel the atmosphere
go down. Anyway, I had a great time. London is da best

shorter the stay, the better it is, under 1 week stay, recommended

Did you get to the Imperial War Museum and HMS Belfast? The V2 and T34 are probably my favourites.

                      Went to both

HMS Belfast was especially great, I've never been on a battleship before.
It's less popular with the crowds than other museums, so it was quite
enjoyable to walk the corridors almost by myself. I sat in the captain's
chair for a while, alone, contemplating...

Don't remember the price of admission, but it was well worth it

On the return from there, walking by the Thames, I accidentally found
Isambard Kingdom Brunel's museum. The man is my personal hero and
                      role model, I was thrilled.

Cool. Didn't realise there was an IKB museum, I'll have to check that out.
