Is the organic food movement the most anti-science social movement out there?

You know guys, we should obviously stop using this thing called modern wheat. It's just a genetically modified (what selective breeding essentially is) version of wild wheat, which is the original, natural form of wheat. GM is bad, and organic is good, so wild wheat is obviously doubleplusgood.
"Organic food" advocates promote agricultural techniques that have been used during the mythical, less technological past. When you start thinking about it, the whole movement is based on proud and unapologetic Luddite-ideology. Thank god most of them are still consumers rather than producers.

If you think that selective breeding and mixing jellyfish, bacteria and plant genes in an unstable and potentially dangerous new variety is the same thing, you are a ****.
Selective breeding never crossed phylums.
I would also like to note, when drunk I will expose the "triad of assh0les" (perhaps we should go with "axis of evil" ?) but when sober I really have no interest in any interaction with them. When I'm drunk, I'm easily entertained and I feel it is also doing a community service. But if you guys want to see them called out on their BS regularly, someone else is gonna have to pick up the slack.
And gribbler, I'm honestly not trying to be mean but I really do take pity on you. I mean, the whole "freedom of speech" means not opposing someone's words? Quoting someone means accusation? That's some of the saddest crap I've seen in a long time. You sound like a child. And you obviously desperately want to be friends with the axis of evil - that's sad too.Last edited by Ecofarm; May 18, 2010, 12:42.

Dude, he thinks freedom of speech means we are not supposed to argue with people or oppose their words. It just doesn't get any dumber than that. How much of a moron would you have to be to think that? It's beyond comprehension; I think most children have a better understanding of freedom of speech.

And your objections to genetic modification must have been written by chicken little...

I have to find the quote?

How about you explain how I "misunderstood" that?
My response to the latter quote:

That's staggeringly stupid.
And it IS staggeringly stupid. And you cannot deny it. It is there for everyone to see.Last edited by Ecofarm; May 18, 2010, 13:29.

Yep, I definitely wasn't saying "freedom of speech means we are not supposed to argue with people or oppose their words." I was pointing out that when people are free to say whatever they want, they're free to wind you up, and you end up making a fool out of yourself. And after you get trolled, you respond with righteous indignation, because you're shocked that someone would dare to make a joke about wrestling 13 year old Japanese boys in loincloths. But I shouldn't expect you to understand that, because you seem to be oblivious to the fact that you're a laughingstock.

And again, the loincloths was not the comment that set me off. There was no mention of children in it. He said "Asian men".
It was when someone mentioned him liking sex tourism that I said "of age, of course?" and he said "only because the age of consent is ridiculously low". Then I asked him "wtf" and he said he was not joking. Then Kuci said everyone knew.
The loincloth was not part of what set me off. Stop using that as a red herring.

Just barely, thanks to Japan's ridiculously low age of consent.Originally posted by Ecofarm View PostThat's not funny.
And so it began. He confirmed he was not joking and then Kuci said everyone has known for years.
The "loincloth" comment has nothing to do with my objection.Last edited by Ecofarm; May 18, 2010, 13:37.
