        The phone book data is only one aspect of it. And even then it's far more complicated than he would appreciate.

        I essentially work for a marketing company. The phone book (Yellow Pages) is just one part. I work on the back-end of 3 of the top 20 websites (in Canada), and a bunch of the most popular mobile apps. My employer is far larger than he appreciates.

        As for the phone book part -- my code is handling 250,000 mobile queries daily across four devices. Not as bland as it sounds.

        Couple of the sites I work on get millions of unique hits a month (redflagdeals.com gets around 2.5 million unique visits a month, yellowpages.ca gets 13 million per month). Apolyton can't even scale properly to handle a couple hundred users, so obviously hitting this kind of scalability is far harder than you know.
