You don't think that's a Christian attitude do you?

For a moment I thought it was James Woods.

Christianity has nothing to do with it, it's simple fact: I understand that all the Arab nations tried to gang up on Israel before, when Israel was much weaker and they much stronger, and Israel creamed them. Much as technologically superior powers tend to do towards less sophisticated ones IRL, but notably failed to do in Avatar.

Just so you know, I'm not really arguing about the Palestinians here, and I'm not sure Asher is either. This is continued sniping about Avatar, which Asher rather liked but I thought was a laughable gilded turd of a propaganda film. I find its pretensions to "cultural relevance," or whatever they're calling it these days, silly, and anybody trying to dress up as its cardboard characters for emotional impact doubly so. They might as well have dressed up as that weird-looking pretty-boy vampire from Twilight, maybe got some teenage girls on their side.

What if the Palestinians dressed up as Family Guy characters to protest?

Then Sarah Palin would become even more pro-Israel.

                  I liked the movie.

Yes, we are talking about how stupid they are. Not one word on their "issues" however.

Which is exactly why it will win the Oscar. The academy loves that ****.

I didn't get the Avatar thing, since I haven't seen it.

So? Elok saw it but didn't get it. I'd say you're ahead.

I'm afraid so. What the hell, Obama already won the Nobel for being black and POTUS, and that prize is a lot more significant.

Kid, the movie was rather in keeping with your own beliefs (or at least the beliefs you used to have--anti-war, anti-corporate, environmentalist) so maybe you'd have liked it. But it tried to beat you over the head with its message, without actually developing it meaningfully or taking it in interesting new directions, and were it not for all the pretty-pretty it'd be a remarkably forgettable film. Bad plot, bad dialogue, no standout performances, action scenes unimpressive, and the sci-fi conceits nothing that hasn't been done better before. A gilded turd, no matter what Sloww thought.

That's your opinion. Evidently, judging by box office receipts, I'm not alone.

Whenever I had mentioned in the past about how popular Cher is with her music, people pointed out that that has nothing to do with her ability to sing. I'm still a fan of Cher, but in response to what Slowwy said - box office statistics does not always mean that the movie is good.
