Will China be the first country to employ widescale eugenics or even genetic engineering to improve and perhaps pacify its population in 30+ years? With a population with a IQ of 100 (that will probably reach levels of East Asians living in developed countries so 105) that is lilkley around 1.7 billion and younger than official statistics points it is hard to see how anything except govermental collapse, mass starvation or civil war could derail their progress.
Note I'm not talking over China taking over the US place as the first superpower, its too fragile to do that for the forseable future, I just would like to point out what a technological and scientific superpower they are likley to become unless they **** up. With little of the Western baggage, need to toe around religion and since certain eugenic and genetic discrimination measures already in place they may instigate the next major leap in human development once the genetics of inteligence is figured out.
If so how can the West hope to compete without redesigning humans itself?
What will Homo Sinicus be like? And what will Homo Americanus look like if its creation will be allowed?
