Really, the North did terrible in that war whatever you might call it. It had like 80% of the industry and population, and it took them what 5 years to win? If terms had been more equal there'd still be slaves on US farms today.

To an outsider it seems an appropriate name. The North was the Agressor and the name is mentione in wikipedia. It dosen't matter whether the south was a slave society, what matters is that they voted to seceed and wanted independance much like the US itself wanted independance decades earlier from the British.


Coming from a country that broke away from another just 2 decades ago however might skew my perceptions tho.

As bumfister pointed out, though, the Southern states started the thing by opening fire on a Federal Fort... even if you want to leave, not everything belongs to you.
