1.5 cups low-fat chicken broth
1.5 cups parm
1 cup fresh basil leaves
~4 tablespoons olive oil
~4 cloves garlic (depending on the size of the cloves and how much you like garlic)
I tend to add chopped up grape or cherry tomatoes. You could add sundried tomatoes if you prefer. Pine nuts optional (I don't bother, actually).
Don't be hating on cheese, my man. Cheese makes virtually any savory food better.
Philistine!
Maybe, but cheese messes up seriously my stomach, so stuff that has hidden cheese are teh evil.
With or without religion, you would have good people doing good things and evil people doing evil things. But for good people to do evil things, that takes religion.

That makes enough for a lb of pasta w/chicken.

This sounds awful and totally isn't pesto. It's some crude imitation. Yes, I'm a food snob.

Simple. Fresh ground basil (use a mortar and pestle), some extra virgin olive oil, pine nuts, lots of Parmesan, and garlic to taste. Grind it all up and put it on the pasta. Good stuff.
Some people add salt but there should be salt in the water you used to make the pasta so the pasta should be slightly salty. My dad's girlfriend (she's Sicilian) makes some great home made sheet pasta with home made pesto. It's great.
I use my mortar and pestle for making mojitos too. Fresh mint which you've just ground in the pestle really brings out the oils and gives the drink the proper flavor. To often bars just use a knife to chop up the mint instead of grinding it the old fashioned way.
