I do think we need to do some work to bring Muslim culture - or at least radical Muslim culture - into the 20th Century. If we are investing money in nation building, we need to invest that money into things like literacy/education, and we need to make sure that we put provisions on aid money that prevent Afghanistan from adopting Islamic law as part of their national law in any way, shape, or form.

And yes, I agree Christian and Jewish culture is equally backward, I just can't think of any countries ruled according to strict Christian/Jewish regulations, even Israel.
