What happens in Vegas should bloody well stay in Vegas.Libraries are state sanctioned, so they're technically engaged in privateering. - Felch
I thought we're trying to have a serious discussion? It says serious in the thread title!- Al. B. Sure

A much-dissed cover, but I really liked it when it first came out. I had no idea it was a cover of the Rev. Al Green's awesomeness at the time...

Mrs. Rabbit suggested I post this -- Richard Thompson, live and solo, at a Joni Mitchell tribute show...

Talking Heads GREAT cover, GREAT original, very different. Well done.
Speaking of Metallica, "Whiskey in the Jar" is a terrific cover.
The Sex Pistols' cover of "My Way" has always been a favorite of mine as well.
In the Bob Dylan subcategory, The Rolling Stones do a terrific rendition of (natch) "Like a Rolling Stone"."My nation is the world, and my religion is to do good." --Thomas Paine
"The subject of onanism is inexhaustable." --Sigmund Freud

PS I don't think anyone could "improve on" Pink Floyd, but Dream Theater's DVD cover of Dark Side of the Moon was a stellar tribute at least with some improv...

Not that each of these covers is necessarily better than the original."Beware of the man who works hard to learn something, learns it, and finds himself no wiser than before. He is full of murderous resentment of people who are ignorant without having come by their ignorance the hard way. "
