Clapton's done some awesome blues covers, but none leap to mind. Hell growin' old.

It's almost funny. Everything he's done is Blues based. If you want an album, let's say "From The Cradle". Some covers, some not.
He played with The Bluesbreakers for a specific purpose. To expand his Blues knowledge from the King Of British Blues, John Mayall. That's been some time ago.

You could probably make another 4 pages of people who covered Dylan songs, but Dylan has done several "rewrites" of his own including "Corinna, Corinna" off his Blowin' in the Wind album. [Solomwi uses the picture from the cover of this album as his avatar. The girl on that cover has written a book on her life in that era.] You may now report you have had your trivia dose for today and refuse any other asides, if you wish.

Perhaps my favorite cover from the 60's was Janis Joplin's "Chain, Chain, Chain," a cover of the signature song of a great blues mistress in San Francisco, Mama Thornton. Had the pleasure to see each of them perform it live, albeit in quite different venues.

Another good cover in an almost insanely inappropriate place was Jan and Dean's cover of "Willow Weep for Me," a blues song from the 30's. Similarly the song "Everybody's Talkin' at Me" is also a cover of a Depression-era song.

"Willow Weep For Me" is a great song. I like the cover by Tin Hat Trio, with Willie Nelson on the vocals. This version is also by THT, but unfortunately lacks Willie:

Sinatra did that song , so no need to come up with any other versions.
