And now, as they say, for something completely different- although as Sheila Chandra would agree, both music from the Indian sub-continent and Celtic music use the drone... something I bought on Friday at Oxfam for 99 pence, Yvette Mimieux and Ali Akbar Khan (& others), 'Flowers Of Evil' after Baudelaire, and this is 'Lethe' :

The smoother the Irish- Happy St. Patrick's Day, especially to all the non-Irish- here's your chance to imbibe, err, experience, some Irish warmth & hospitality.

Everyone thinks of the Ides of March as one-hit wonders ("Vehicle," 1973). Everyone thought they would be huge - openibg for Hendrix, Zeppelin, Joplin...

Few seem to realize that the main writer of that song, Jim Peterik, formed the band Survivor about 17 years later, and co-wrote their "one-hit wonder" hit, "Eye of the Tiger" (Rocky III, Mr. T) in 1990.

Can't think of anyone else who wrote "one-hit wonder" songs for two different groups...
