I think that opinion in the United States is decidedly different from the rest of the world because we have a free press -- by free, I mean a virgorously presented right wing point of view on the air and available to all.- Ned

McCain lost the Republican primary in 2000 because Rove lied and told people McCain had been miscegenating with a black women. True story.Try http://wordforge.net/index.php for discussion and debate.

True except perhaps the word "because." Do your really have any evidence of how many people actually stopped dead in their tracks and changed their vote solely as a result of that unfounded rumor? Or was it just bull**** circulated amongst fringe nutcases who had already made up their minds anyway, just like long forms, death panels, etc.? You have no way of knowing, do you?

I do know he lost in North Carolina, where he was expected to win, because of a last minute shift in the polls. A shift which exactly coincides with Rove's last minute attacks about McCain having a half black baby. That sudden shift and lose where he was expected to win pretty much killed McCain's campaign. I'm sure most of the Bush voters had already made up their minds, as you've said, but I can't help but feel such attacks were part of the last minute shift which gave Bush the victory in NC.Try http://wordforge.net/index.php for discussion and debate.

So the answer is "no" then. Just checking.

McCain lost the first southern primary in SC because republican base thought that he wasn't a genuine conservative because the EVIL LIBERAL MEDIA was suddenly on his side (judging from the 2008 campaign, we can surprisingly find out that they were correct). That, and Bush & Rove dumped a ****load of TV & radio ads into a single state within a single week with all that money Bush's campaign received from oil & military companies.
Spoiler:I think a problem bigger than money there was (and is) the apathy of the voting public wrt politics. In Finland, you can't earn votes by simply dumping x amount of money into TV ads because the voters aren't stupid enough to believe whatever they see from TV. In the USA, the two seem to have a direct correlation.

at VJ schooling Oerdin.
It was indeed South Carolina where McCain lost to Bush early on and the push polling tricks by Rove were pulled. However, whether or not those tricks were what actually pushed Bush over the top, no one can really know.“I give you a new commandment, that you love one another. Just as I have loved you, you also should love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.”

No, he probably knew it. After all, South Carolina has the important primary of the two Carolinas because its so early.“I give you a new commandment, that you love one another. Just as I have loved you, you also should love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.”
