The only reason why Obama doesn't want to go through 100% with clearing up the past is because he needs his political capital for projects he deems more important right now - such as health care.

In short it all breaks down to the following:
    1. If he prosecutes the interrogators they'll claim he's merely looking for scapegoats.
    2. Should Obama take on the CIA-leaders the Repugs will shout he's endangering US safety - which is a fallacy of epic proportions.
    3. And finally if Obama investigates Bush-era leaders he'll be accused of organising a witchhunt against his predecessors.

So Bush worshippers like Slowwhand and Ogie give Obama considerable difficulty and what for? It's pathetic. Accountability is an essential feature of good government. Not surprisingly Repugs don't mind a little impunity when it suits them

Still, the past simply cannot be ignored. It's a good thing Obama's in power. Any other leader would've hushed up the issue entirely.

Truly you can come up with something better than this considering I never commented on the appropriateness of prosecution merely the motivations as to why Obama hasn't kept his word?

I believe I chastized Mr. Fun for his moronitude when applying strawman positions to me earlier. Reading the thread might be helpful.

I think that opinion in the United States is decidedly different from the rest of the world because we have a free press -- by free, I mean a virgorously presented right wing point of view on the air and available to all.- Ned

It's fairly clear what your opinions about Bush, Obama, and the interrogations are.

Dwelling on a triviality whether or not Obama kept is word detracts from the real issue, which is why Repugs are so obsessively torture-oriented and discount any notion of accountability. I'd understand that kind of behaviour in Syria or some puny semi-dictatorship. But the US? oh boy... the entire world should adopt American democracy

Please enlighten me on my opinions then.
