The seven o'clock entrance goes out into the New York Harbor and the one o'clock entrance looks out itno a long approach corridor along the East River. If that is too long, rotate it so you have a Hudson and East River corridor, whatever. The mountain is replaced by the Manhattan city scape. Problem solved.

This was my first thought upon reading the story, but then, people have come up with stupider ideas.
