Yes, you need two origianl Fallout-2 files: critter.dat and master.dat.

You can either use these files from your Fallout-2 disc or download them here:

Another link (both files in one archive):
DepositFiles provides you with a legitimate technical solution, which enables you to upload, store, access and download text, software, scripts, images, sounds, videos, animations and any other materials in form of one or several electronic files.

If you have any problems with these links - just whistle. I'll find you more.

Do I need to do anything else? Set up compatibility mode or some such? I doubleclick on the .exe but nothing happens.

"It was not possible to connect to the server"

Probably too many users. I'll try later.

                Try another host:

                94.103.87.42 port:2238

Your default server is 94.103.86.46:4000 and it doesnt work well now.

I tried that now... can't connect. If most players are Euroasian, then now is their prime playing time. Perhaps I should try during work

I did manage to connect yesterday... but the game crashed while I was still inside the building you "materialize" in.

They have some problems now and the site and forum have been moved to another location.

You can check status of both servers here:

I doubt that needs a translation. Green means - ok.
                    Currently both servers are off-line

Btw, have you seen the intro?

                      I remind you it's purely fan-made non-commercial project.

                        Yep, I've seen the intro.

I've played Fallout 2. I'm not a proper die-hard fan, I only played and finished it once. I do consider it the best RPG I ever played, so I'm curious to try this. I applaud the effort.

How big is the MMORPG map? The entire F2 world or only a portion, or different locations entirely? Is combat turn based?

What is the status of the project with regards to legality? If the images and sprites from F2 are copyrighted, then can this game use them legally?

Entire F2 world with major locations a bit modified.

                          Is combat turn based?
Not exactly. It's not possible to have TB combat with so many players involved. The combat is sorta real-time like in Fallout Tactics.

What is the status of the project with regards to legality?
                          Absolutely legal.

If the images and sprites from F2 are copyrighted, then can this game use them legally?
Yep. It's non-commercial project. The authors don't make any proffit at all. Basically, in terms of legality it is just a MOD for the original Fallout-2 game which allows multiplayer.
                          Mods are legal.

You have to buy it or make it (if your repeir skill is good enough). Then place it in your hand, set the frequency and type something holding shift. Everyone whose radio set on the same frequency will hear you.
