It was a question so I thought about it and made a list. I don't think most people here had the number written down somewhere, although I could be wrong.

with medians it just requires a skewd distribution

and even considering averages, just think to this:

a man and three women marroned on an island
some time passes, and all three concede to him out of boredom

male population: 1 person, 3 partners
average: 3

female population: 3 persons, 1 partner each
average: 1

the partner average for men is 3 times that of women, but no one lied and the data are absolutley correct

Problem is though, there is an inequality between the number of men and women...now if we assume no homosexuality then the total number of sexual encounters for the male and female population should be the same...if there are three times as many women as men, then the per capita amount is going to be three times that for men as women. With the populations approximately equal then the numbers should be the same per capita. As I said homosexuality and the age at which sexual encounters occur and when the age of death is may play a small factor. But I doubt it would be that significant. Depends on the number of lesbians and gays to swing this ratio I suppose.
