I have a habanero out in my truck. A guy at the VFW gave it to me the other day.
I hope it doesn't burn through the seat.

See and then there is the question of is a pepper a chile? Would one consider a Habenjero or a jalepeno a chile? I make this German Chocolate Pie that on a good day would give a chocoholic pause to only eat a bite or two it's that sweet, that was the one I was considering using Ancho Chile or Chile paste in. Given that it's so sweet to start off with I thought that it could stand up to the chile flavor and not get canceled out.

Well, OT, I found that the orange in the previous mentioned chocolate was the third part in a triangle - bitterness from the chocolate, strength from the chili and sweetness from the orange. The problem is of course to translate that into a pie where there are other ingredients.

I bought a high octane chocolate candy bar the other day. It was like trying to eat that cocoa powder. Have you ever done that?
I found some in my grandmother's pantry once. I thought, oh goody. I got me a big heaping spoonful. You know, there's no way you can really spit it out, or do anything to get rid of it. It's just there in your mouth for the longest time.

That and Cinnimon! I was trying to add just a bit the other day to a chocolate pie recipe and the top didn't have a shaker top on it and half of the bottle went into the pie. It was awful. Like you said Sloww, no where to go once it's in your mouth and gritty and powdery Yuck!

How about a custard with a pepper/jalapeno jelly on the bottom bottom?

You're not putting anything like that on my bottom bottom...

Japher that's not a bad idea. The Buttermilk Pie I won the contest with last year is a custard based pie. What about Raspberry Jalapeno jelly. I think I will hit the local stores today because the recipe has to be in by next week.

Mmmm, raspberry jalapeno. That could work.
