  • Weird sleep habits

If I go to bed at 2a and set my alarm for 8am, I will usually be sleepy for a few minutes in the morning and it'll take me a bit to get out of bed.

If I go to bed at 8pm, apparently I wake up on my own at 2am completely alert.

Same... I don't see what is so odd about it?

You are use to being awake between 8pm and 2am, so your body wakes up 'awake'.

You are use to often being asleep at 8am, so you are sleepy...

Probably days you wake up at 2am you are likely to take a nap later.

I usually try to get 7 to 8 hours of sleep a night. During the workweek I go to bed around 3 or 4 PM and wake up at 11 PM. During the weekends I sleep in.

I've been sleeping alot lately. The gym is seriously tiring me out. Which is a good thing. But it doesn't leave time for much else.

In answer to the OP, some people may only need 6 hours of sleep a night. If you aren't getting much exercise or you are drinking lots of caffeine, you will wake up.

I've been sleeping ~2.5 hours every 12 hours for many weeks now. I can't get to sleep at night. Learning too much ****. Have bee taking a midday 2.5 hour nap in my office to somewhat compensate.

Midday naps are great. Also, split days are great. My split days ar emore likely to be 4 hours for every 8-12 hours awake though.

And if I am lifting/etc, there is no way I can be doing well on less than 6 hours of sleep (total). In fact, lifting is the only healthy time I prefer more than 8 hours.

I can go almost indefinitely on about 6 hr/night; usually I get closer to 7. I rarely sleep more than 8 hrs, and that much only when I've been partying.

            Can't nap. Just doesn't happen.

12 on and 2-4 off is one of the patterns I fall into pretty easily. When I'm on project work where I don't have a set schedule I'll usually end up sleeping either 6AM-noon or 2AM-4AM and noon to 2PM. The only way I can sleep a schedule that's compatible with the rest of the world is drugs (benadryl is great stuff).

To help fix my schedule I sometimes use melatonin. I think it only works for certain types of sleep issues though.

If I have been drunk, generally I wake up within 3-5 hours.

I make do on 6 to 6.5 hours a night. The only problem is that I wake up after almost every full sleep cycle (about every 2.5 hours) to piss. Getting old sucks.

But I can nap anytime anyplace.

Yeah, you start paying more attention to the drug commerical on TV. Hmmm maybe I do have a growing prostrate problem. Hmm side effects, lower sperm count, no problem since i wasn't planning on using it for that, sensitive nipples, no problem as long as they're my wifes, constipation, already a problem so it couldn't be any worse.

i don't sleep on a regular schedule. i nap when I'm tired no matter the time. if I've been awake for a long time before work i just drink coffee, work, then go home and nap. completely random and I've lived this way for over 30 years, even as a kid.

5 hours here 4 hours there, awake 20 hours or 10... doesn't matter. I survived and will continue to.

I'm a technician who works graveyard (in my case 1AM to 9AM). I work in the casino industry.

As for getting old well... I don't think I am. The problem I have is diet sodas go straight through me. I learned not to drink diet sodas too late in the morning. It tends to keep me up (if I drink a diet mt. dew before working out for instance), and/or cause me to piss alot waking me up. I still drink alot of water from the drinking fountain at the gym, as I don't want to risk underhydrating myself. I try to stay awake a few hours after working out to empty the fluids from my body.

I like to think I'm not old like Rah. It's good I piss alot I think. I hope this puts me at less risk of kidney stones. Because from what I heard, they aren't something I want in the future

As a diabetic, I don't get much choice as to how often I go to the loo. On a decent session, it can get up to once per pint.
