  • Very true. And unsurprising.

I still find it hilarious that you think I'm a sock puppet.

Is the Congressional Budget Office a paragon of objectivity, or does it do whatever the majority wants?

                • If all of the current 431 House members vote, Democrats will need 216 to pass the legislation. The vote tally is now 218.

                  Current vote count.

                  207 yes
                  206 no
                  18 still undecided.

How sad is it that I'm reduced to hoping Stupak can hold most of his coalition together?

                  • House Democrats say they are confident they have the 216 votes they need to pass a history-making health overhaul package Sunday. President Obama called on lawmakers to put aside politics and do what is right for the American people during a tumultuous day of deal-making.

                    They've got the votes.

                    • BTW Stupak never had a coalition and instead it never numbered more then five including himself. He just made up the other 15 to make himself sound important as he demanded something which legally can't be done under reconciliation rules; that is materially change the content of the bill by adding something which was in neither the House nor Senate bills.

                        • Nonsense. The bill is packed with subsidies for the insurance companies. Lobbying the government gives the best return on investment of anything out there and it doesn't matter who is in the majority. They're both whores for lobbyist cash.

Personally, I doubt the subsidies will lower costs even one penny and instead will just be used to increase insurance company profits. We know that is exactly what happened with Bush's billions for oil companies plan.

Not everyone who opposes this gigantic health care bill use or believe in such rhetoric as "this will mean the end of America" krap.
