Yes, there is an element of stereotyping involved but it is at least based upon evidence rather then other stereotypes like Jews drink the blood of Arab babies or other such junk printed in the Arab world.

For what it's worth, most stereotypes are based on some kernel of truth. The reason why stereotypes are harmful is that they tend to impute the behavior (or abilities, or what have you) of a few individuals to the entire minority group.

Even "benign" stereotypes can have this effect. One good example I've had to deal with personally is the stereotype that Asians are good at maths. There is some statistical basis for this stereotype, but it still has a negative effect on individuals who are Asian but for whatever reason are not good at maths.

This is just a minor point I'm raising. It does not necessarily validate or invalidate Oerdin's point.

You can't validate this. Oerdin makes a thread, then posts this, and it's habitual. He displays the same traits he "attacks".

                Stop being a bigot.
He can't, or won't. He's been displaying it since before he "went lefty" and all that. It's been there since when he was a gung-ho guy off to Iraq. It's just usually directed at Muslims. The South is #2 on his list.
