  • Do You Use Profanity?

When I was in the military, I amazed myself with how many times I could insert Fvck into a sentence. As profane as I could become, I never used it around my mother and rarely around my wife. When I suddenly found myself living in the same household with young children, I tried really hard to moderate my language. That proves difficult when we are driving someone

On the few occasions that I have used profanity in front of the kids I have noticed the impact it has.

Do you have a potty mouth?

I curse around everyone except my bosses.

Strange, I think that I heard/used fewest profanities when I was in the military.
With or without religion, you would have good people doing good things and evil people doing evil things. But for good people to do evil things, that takes religion.

yes. About 6 months ago I tried to go cold turkey. Didn't work.

I almost never use profanity around other people, however. Just when I'm alone and I'm pissed off at something. If I die in a computer game, of course I'm going to cuss. Or driving...

I find this is a happy medium. If I don't cuss around other people, I don't have to worry about cussing accidently at work. Which could get me fired or in trouble for sexual harrassment. Yes I have gotten in trouble for using the F word at work. Even though the context in which I used the F word was not sexual in nature, I was told it was still possible sexual harrassment because I used it towards a woman. I had to sign a write up for using that word.

To be honest, I've started to use a lot of such words since I was forced to use -Wall with the newest version of gcc

No, I generally find that people swear because they are unable to articulate what they are thinking. Though that could just be because I came from a little farm town so most of the people that I grew up around that swear all the time tended to be the biggest uneducated rednecks you can find.

But outside of that I dont have any problems with swearing, I do swear when telling jokes and such. They just don't enter into my everyday vocabulary.

Rarely in conversation with others. Often in conversation with myself.
I came upon a barroom full of bad Salon pictures in which men with hats on the backs of their heads were wolfing food from a counter. It was the institution of the "free lunch" I had struck. You paid for a drink and got as much as you wanted to eat. For something less than a rupee a day a man can feed himself sumptuously in San Francisco, even though he be a bankrupt. Remember this if ever you are stranded in these parts. ~ Rudyard Kipling, 1891

Yes. And occasionally around other people.

F*** yes, I use profanity. In particular, I'm fond of f***. Can be used as a noun, adjective, verb, the possibilities are endless.

I had cussed like 5 times in my life before my sophomore year of college.

There were times I did quite a bit. Right now not so much.

I am not one to stub my toe and say ****, for example, though. It is more like 'that was a ****ing cool movie'.

                            Oh, come on.

"Go **** yourself", for instance. I think that perfectly articulates how I feel.

What would you say instead of that? Can you say it as succinctly?
